Content Specialist

Goddard is seeking a Content Specialist with roughly 3-5 years of experience of relevant experience to join our team in Beverly, MA.  This role will be responsible for content strategy, including collaborate with creative, marketing, and graphic design partners to ideate and define content goals. They will be held accountable to be able to conduct themself in the manners listed below and refine any needed skills to efficiently cover all responsibilities.

General Responsibilities:

  • Content calendar – develop, manage, and drive timely execution.
  • Content optimization – collaborate with SEO, SEM, and SMO experts to ensure top search rankings and click through rates for new and existing content.
  • Research – execute and support market and competitive analyses to ensure content address targeted customer trends that is relevant and appealing. Ensure content “speaks” to the right audience.
  • Content creation – work independently and with subject matter experts and design, marketing, videography, and copywriting partners to concept, write, maintain, and monitor content for both digital and print. Examples include the website, landing pages, social media, blogs, case studies, whitepapers, videos, sales collateral, newsletters, and email marketing.
  • Monitor social media channels to develop compelling posts in collaboration with agency partners that help promote and position Goddard as thought leaders.

  • Support events (e.g., tradeshows, conferences, client meetings) by providing content and assisting with coordination, as requested.

  • Keep up to date with best practices in writing for the web, social media, and B2B sales enablement.

Principal Firmware Engineer

Goddard is seeking a highly motived Principal Firmware Engineer to join the firmware/software engineering team designing state-of-the-art medical devices and robotic systems. This role requires candidates to have 8+ years of Embedded Software development experience and 2+ years of medical device or robotics experience.

The Principal Firmware Engineer will be expected to:

  • Drive client products through the complete software life cycle, from prototyping to end of line.
  • As a principal engineer, you will conduct and lead interviews of additional teammates with expectations of growing and developing a cohesive team.
  • Be the primary lead on multiple projects, manage and lead groups of engineers, advise, or assist in the design and execution of projects.
  • Manage and facilitate client interactions with strong, clear communication as it relates to deliverables, design reviews, deadlines, etc.

The Principal Firmware Engineer should be technically familiar and comfortable with:

Senior Human Factors Engineer

Goddard is seeking a Senior Human Factor Engineer with roughly 5-10 years of experience in product development of medical products to join our team in Beverly, MA or San Diego, CA. This role will play a key part in the design, development, use testing, documentation, and launch of Goddard’s clients’ products. You will take part in human factors & usability engineering activities for new product development programs and contribute to usability improvements for current products, collaborating with a diverse team of product development specialists and working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Goddard products integrate mechanical, electrical, software, and fluidic elements, and industrial design to deliver thoughtful, elegant product solutions.

In this role, we will ask you to:

1 – Be the Voice of the Patient/Customer

  • Serve as a patient / customer advocate in helping Goddard realize its vision for delivering game-changing products that are safe & effective, easy to use, not prone to use error, and provide user satisfaction; ultimately supporting Goddard’s goal of extremely low burden of care.
  • Support product management and product engineering personnel in establishing ergonomic, human factors (HF), and usability-related requirements for new products and product line extensions.
  • Represent the human factors/usability engineering function on core teams for small to large sized projects

2 – Advocate the human-centered design approach end-to-end in product development.

  • Implement a variety of HFE research methods, such as task analysis, PCA, time/motion study, user preference studies, ethnographic research, heuristic analysis, root cause analysis, post-market data analysis and usability testing.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions and risk analyses and contribute to user interface designs by providing heuristic design guidance, ideas, and feed- back to project teams.
  • Be flexible with a range of product interfaces from software GUIs, hardware/fluid connectors to workstations, and inform/support creation of necessary prototypes for testing these with users (Figma, Adobe xD, Sketch, Axure, paper prototypes, model making, Solidworks CAD, Microsoft and Google products etc.)
  • Collaborate with internal & external parties in planning, structuring, recruiting for, and executing formative and summative usability evaluations.
  • Create and leverage uFMEAs to inform design; collaborating with systems engineering in identifying intended users and use environments, as well as potential use-related hazards; determine product use cases and identify critical user tasks, errors and design mitigations.

3 – Adhere to latest regulatory standards and industry best practices.

  • Support documentation review and development, including but not limited to risk analyses, user/environment profiles, task analyses, use specifications and human factors engineering reports to support regulatory filings.
  • Have a working knowledge of the implementation of all relevant HF & usability-related standards and guidance documents (ANSI/AAMI/ISO 14971, AAMI/ANSI HE75, ANSI/AAMI/IEC 62366, IEC 60601, FDA, etc.).

4 – Demonstrate leadership skills

  • Strive to balance strategic planning and tactical execution.

Director, Program Management

As the Director of Program Management, you will successfully lead, with other Directors of Programs, all project functions at Goddard and provide positive outcomes for our clients. You will be working with the President, Vice Presidents and other Directors of Goddard to establish short and long-term goals, plans and strategies for project teams and your own direct reports.

You will be held accountable to be able to conduct yourself in the manners listed below and refine any needed skills to efficiently cover all responsibilities.  You are expected to:

  • Develop and maintain a network of industry professionals in the engineering and management field that you can call on from time to time to assist in decision making and advice.
  • Responsible for annual performance reviews for employees working as a direct report.
  • Work with team members to estimate resource requirements, monitor progress, and balance and reallocate resources as needed.
  • Work with team members and other managers to resolve conflicts among resources and between client and engineering teams.
  • Remain apprised of the progress of certain projects, paying attention to any developing problems, and participate in minor and major problem resolutions.
  • General forecasting and employee utilization will be done on a weekly basis.
  • This helps advise how you and the company should focus on growth and planning.
  • Mentor other Goddard team members as needed. Professionally and personally.
  • Monitor, approve or disapprove of PTO requests in accordance with the Company Policy.

Project Managing:

  • Depending on the role being performed per project, Communicate to Project Mangers, other Directors of Program Management, or the executive team of any significant deviations of ongoing efforts.
  • Able to create Budgets, Gantts, and task tracking methods. Understand the need to measure effort remaining vs time and money remaining.
  • Perform or delegate tasks to work towards a company or project goal.
  • Able to co-ordinate and motivate a team.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with your team and client throughout a project or programs to set expectations on project deliverables and high-risk areas. Manage and facilitate client interactions with strong, clear communication as it relates to deliverables, design reviews, deadlines, etc.
  • Create and collect weekly project status updates as required.
  • Negotiate when necessary, in the best interest of the company.
  • Deliver exceptional products and services. On-time and On-budget.

 

Project Advisory Council (PAC) Responsibilities:

  • Whether it is a Fixed based project, Strict T&M, or Scoped T&M, you’ll need to believe in the importance of getting quotes out in a timely fashion. Having no quotes going out means no work coming in.
  • Business Development (BD) will contact you or another Director of Program Management when a request for a quote or support service is asked of them.
  • Assess the client’s nature and scope and assemble a PAC (if needed) to accomplish. The majority of the time, you will be involved in all PACs.
    • If you are booked with other responsibilities, other Goddard team members can be pulled into PAC duties depending on their respective availabilities.
  • You will work with BD to produce timely well-thought-out Quote Packages which will consist of:
    • Collected client documentation and information.
    • Goddard derived Requirements Documentation
    • Design Brief: Assist in quote writing by describing effort required for necessary task to deliver on client requirements.
    • Design Budget
    • Proposed Project Schedule
  • Set a standard methodology for quoting. The Quote Package needs to be a consistent, repeated effort. When reading through the package, it should have a typical breakdown and information. This will require discipline and follow through to have it be a habit in generating this package.
  • Business Development will work with the quote package to develop a Goddard quote and have it back to you for review before sending it to a prospective client.
  • Work with BD and Clients to answer questions and clarify confusion areas where possible.
  • Regularly attend industry networking events and trade shows.
  • Go over customer satisfaction survey.
  • Assist with marketing efforts when needed.

 

Oversight of Project and Program Management of the company:

  • Once Goddard Wins a project based on the Quote Package. The client supplies BD with a client approved project. BD will provide this information to you and other Directors of Program Management. Work with the information given to you on setting up a project team and the tools to track them.
    • Sales will provide you with a PO, email approval, or Sign Quote on a won project. Have a clear understanding of what type of project is in hand: Strict T&M, Scoped T&M, or Fix Fee.
    • Assign a Project Lead and assemble a project team (if needed) and explain to them the Quote Package (see above.)
    • Work with the assigned project lead and accounting on setting up our tools to reflect on how $$(hours) should be allocated to tasks. This is to assist in tracking the project.
    • Set up the visual schedule program. Showing delivery dates of phases and resources needed.
    • Assist with resource management.
    • Have the Project Lead utilize the Project Adder Template to track scope creep. Help the Project Lead recognize scope creep.
  • Send out and follow up on the weekly reminder to all project leads to provide their weekly project updates.
  • Request from the project leads to update their respective project schedule and understand deliverables vs dates vs resources vs budget remaining.
  • Request an update on the Project Adder sheet.
  • Follow up with Project lead to assure weekly updates are being provided to the client. Discussing project schedule, budget, and bringing up any changes.
  • Be flexible on weekly reports. A project lead may be extremely busy and may not be able to report. Keep an eye on how long they are this busy and see if they need assistance.

Project Manager

Goddard is seeking a Project Manager to join our Beverly, MA or San Diego, CA team. 5+ years of relevant experience in consumer product development, diagnostics development, and/or medical equipment and device development or equivalent, and 3+ years of project management experience preferred. As a project manager, you will be expected to interface with both the internal team as well as the project team and client.

Internally, you will be expected to perform the following activity:

1. Deliver profitable project outcomes for Goddard through effective project management.

  • Own the project’s vision.
  • Track budget usage and project progress.
  • Generate dashboards and/or presentations to present to internal management and/or the client.
  • Maintain a strong and open relationship with the client.
  • Ensure compliance of program with Goddard Quality Management System, as required.

2. Work with Program Management to:

  • Define project structure for time entry.
  • Identify methods of capturing out of scope, or other cost over runs.
  • Present weekly updates on projects (dashboard).
  • Identify Necessary Resource adjustments, either upwards or downwards.
  • Update and maintain the Goddard Bookings system.
  • Identify new opportunities to improve overall project management capabilities at Goddard.
  • Report back on Goddard architectures or systems which may be deficient or contribute to labor inefficiencies.

3. Identify new business opportunities with existing clients.

  • Work with client to understand, refine, and agree on the new project requirements.
  • Work with the Business Development, and Directors of Program Management to determine resources, effort, and time needed to complete a project or how to provide consultation support on an ongoing basis.
  • Work with the Goddard business development team to generate proposals.
  • Present proposals to client.

4. Support new business/client proposal creation (PAC Lead)

  • Rapidly come up to speed on the project based on RFP documentation.
  • Work with the BD team, as well as the client to understand, refine, and agree on the project requirements.
  • Work with the Business Development, and Directors of Program Management to determine resources, effort, and time needed to complete a project or how to provide consultation support on an ongoing basis.
  • Work with the Goddard business development team to generate proposals.
  • Present proposals to existing clients.

When working with the project team and client you will be expected to perform the following:

1. Provide informed, detailed guidance to clients looking for Goddard’s leadership and experience in product development. Communicate clearly with the client and empower the client with data to help them make confident, prudent decisions throughout the product development process.

2. Kick off Projects.

  • Work with Program Management to identify resources, coordinate project kickoff meetings with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Onboard the assigned project team.
  • Set up communication channels and cadence with the client.

3. Project Management

  • Motivate and manage individual team members as well as the team dynamic.
  • Follow up all meeting and pertinent conversations with notes shared to all stakeholders.
  • Track and maintain project tasks/objectives to ensure the project is progressing as expected. Manage project leads: Generate schedules, tasks, and assign work to the team; Ensure project leads are properly assigning or performing expected tasks.
  • Lead project postmortem/lessons learned activity.
  • Periodically present to the company project progress during the company meeting.
  • Coordinate all aspects of program activities between the client and Goddard engineering, ID, quality, regulatory, testing, documentation, etc.
  • Responsible for the completion of all deliverables per proposal.

4. Other Responsibilities

  • At times, required to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Travel as-needed (driver’s license required).

  • Designs are expected to balance function, appearance, form, and budgetary requirements.
  • Databases will be suitable for direct transfer to manufacturing and will include all consideration functional design requirements. This work will often be performed as part of a team, which includes both engineers and industrial designers.

  • Perform research and discovery of certain potential clients’ history and background, establishing contact through cold calling or event attendance.

Office Management:

  • Oversee the operation of your team ensuring it operates and goals are met based on the direction established in the strategic plans.

About the Role:

  • Design layout, schematics and run lists for panel boards as well as junction boxes to be manufactured for machine control.
  • Provide installation wire list for assembly of interconnection cables.
  • Design custom harnessing solutions for interconnected systems.
  • Provide engineering support to panel vendors and the manufacturing floor.

Goddard is seeking an Electromechanical Technician to join our team. This position will be a great fit for candidates with a proven aptitude for qualifying, assembling, and testing mechanical and electrical components.

You will get to work with various prototypes, fixtures, and testing equipment built from the ground up. Our clients come from diverse industries: Consumer Products, Medical devices, industrial automation, and robotics. Overseeing our 3D printing and machine shop, you will be responsible for working closely with our engineering team to provide exceptional services and solutions for our clients. In this role, we will ask you to:

  • Build and test assemblies and subcomponents for Engineering and Industrial Design groups following manufacturing process documentation.
  • Assemble and repair precision electromechanical parts, assemblies, and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, precision instruments, test equipment.
  • Have experience with panels, pulleys, switching mechanisms, motors, power supplies, pneumatic valves, and actuators.
  • Conduct, under direction, tests, and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Calibrate assembly tooling to meet operational tolerances/specifications.
  • Support new product prototype builds as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate records to ensure Device History Records (DHR) and quality documents are accurate when required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Perform all work following quality standards and established safety procedures.
  • Able to use a computer with Microsoft or google based software.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain our various 3d printers.

  • Basic understanding and use of a multimeter, DC power supplies, Loctite/EFD dispensing units, and machine shop equipment (Milling and Lathe).
