Employee Experience Manager

The Employee Experience Manager will serve as the advocate for all of Goddard’s employees, discovering and implementing practices that maximize employee retention, engagement, and efficiency. It requires expertise in creating a work environment in which people will choose to be motivated, contributing, and happy. Some important aspects of employee advocacy include consistency in the treatment of employees, handling daily employee issues, effective employee communication, counseling, training, maintaining employee relationships, complaint solving processes, employee conduct and workplace behavior and etiquette. Working with Goddard’s President, CEO, HR, and Management teams, this role will be responsible for refining Goddard’s employee experience from interview to departure.

Administrative Duties & Reporting:

  • Maintain active spreadsheets on company initiatives for reporting purposes
  • Regularly gather data from employees regarding projects, team structures and dynamics, clients, etc.
  • Create, manage, organize, and refine Goddard’s Personal Qualifications (PQ) sheets

Culture Building:

  • Study the current health of the organizational culture and determine what steps need to be taken to ensure its continued health
  • Manage Goddard’s DEI efforts, including establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure effectiveness
  • Advocate for minority groups and represent their interests among leadership as the business scales
  • Initiate and coordinate employee engagement/relations projects including, but not limited to, employee appreciation and years of service

Employee Relations:

  • Regularly assess organizational effectiveness as it relates to team structures
  • Optimize tools used by employees to scale teams more effectively
  • Assess efficacy of how Goddard employees are working (remote, hybrid, in-person, etc.)
  • Understand and lead strategic hiring related to business goals
  • Refine on-boarding and exit procedures to improve data capture and analysis
  • Learn as much as possible about capabilities and goals of every staff member
  • Identify talent gaps, drawing from team and client requests
  • Identify or create staff internal career goals that align with business objectives. Create path to achieving those goals and implement professional development plans for all employees
  • Advocate on behalf of the staff to leadership
  • Support conflict resolution efforts among staff
  • Lead and regularly review succession planning for key organizational roles
  • Have discussions with managers and management on ensuring equitable compensation across the organization

Training:

  • Determine employee skills’ gaps and select what training is required to close the gaps

Senior Human Factors Engineer

Goddard is seeking a Senior Human Factor Engineer with roughly 5-10 years of experience in product development of medical products to join our team in Beverly, MA or San Diego, CA. This role will play a key part in the design, development, use testing, documentation, and launch of Goddard’s clients’ products. You will take part in human factors & usability engineering activities for new product development programs and contribute to usability improvements for current products, collaborating with a diverse team of product development specialists and working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Goddard products integrate mechanical, electrical, software, and fluidic elements, and industrial design to deliver thoughtful, elegant product solutions.

In this role, we will ask you to:

  • Serve as a patient / customer advocate in helping Goddard realize its vision for delivering game-changing products that are safe & effective, easy to use, not prone to use error, and provide user satisfaction; ultimately supporting Goddard’s goal of extremely low burden of care.
  • Support product management and product engineering personnel in establishing ergonomic, human factors (HF), and usability-related requirements for new products and product line extensions.
  • Implement a variety of HFE research methods, such as task analysis, PCA, time/motion study, user preference studies, ethnographic research, heuristic analysis, root cause analysis and usability testing.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to in- form design decisions and risk analyses.
  • Contribute to user interface designs by providing heuristic design guidance, ideas, and feed- back to project teams.
  • Support documentation review and development, including but not limited to risk analyses, user/environment profiles, task analyses, use specifications and human factors engineering reports to support regulatory filings.
  • Draft uFMEAs; collaborating with systems engineering in identifying intended users and use environments, as well as potential use-related hazards; determine product use cases and identify critical user tasks.
  • Analyze complaints from on-market products for usability-related issues.
  • Be flexible with a range of product interfaces from software GUIs, hardware/fluid connectors to workstations.
  • Represent the human factors/usability engineering function on core teams for small to large sized projects.
  • Collaborate with internal & external parties in planning, structuring, recruiting for, and executing formative and summative usability evaluations.
  • Have a working knowledge of the implementation of all relevant HF & usability-related standards and guidance documents (ANSI/AAMI/ISO 14971, AAMI/ANSI HE75, ANSI/AAMI/IEC 62366, IEC 60601, FDA, etc.).

Senior Electrical Engineer

While working with Goddard Technologies as a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be held accountable to be able to conduct yourself in the manners listed below and refine any needed skills to efficiently cover all responsibilities. Ideal candidate should possess a broad understanding of the electronic technology landscape and the desire to keep up with the changes in technology. The ability to define the system and hardware architecture for a given system and participate in the definition of the software architecture.

In this role, we will ask you to:

  • Take every care, regard, action, and ability to keep all privileged information not yet known to other individuals, companies, public, or other entity private and confidential in all regards.
  • Define initial project scope including proposal composition, lead and deliver presentations, estimate and stabilize the most appropriate process and deliverable to satisfy client needs.
  • Be the senior most principal Engineer of the group- expected to conduct and lead interviews of additional teammates with expectations of growing and developing a cohesive design team.
  • Be the primary lead on multiple projects, manage and lead groups of engineers, advise, or assist in the design and execution of all projects from initiation to completion, ensuring on-time submission of deliverables.
  • Work with and lead teams to create Electrical/ Electromechanical concepts for overall packaging strategies, mechanisms, and parts. These concepts are expected to balance function, appearance, form, and budgetary requirements.
  • Work with clients on individual projects or as a team lead, team member, or support member on larger projects.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with your team and the client throughout the project.

You should be technically familiar and comfortable with:

  • Wireless technology – Familiarity with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Wi-Fi, LoRa and other low power wireless standards. Familiarity with cellular technologies, particularly 4G technologies targeting
  • IOT – Experience designing IOT devices
  • Microcontrollers – Experience in designing microcontroller and microprocessor-based systems including ARM Cortex M series microcontrollers. C-programming expertise desired.
  • Low power – Ability to design a system to minimize power consumption for portable battery-operated devices.
  • Battery – Charging and fuel gauging of Lithium chemistry batteries for portable applications.
  • Cloud – Familiarity with connecting devices to the cloud and issues related to security such as authentication and encryption. Familiarity with protocols such as MQTT is helpful as is knowledge of JavaScript and JSON.
  • Sensors – Familiarity with various sensor types including MEMS sensors and ability to design them into a system.
  • Serial Communication – Experience with serial communication functional blocks including I2C, SPI, USB, Ethernet, RS485.
  • GPS – Familiarity with GPS technology and incorporating GPS capability into a product.
  • Motors – Ability to design in circuits to drive motors including brushed, brushless and stepper.
  • Compliance/Certification/Safety Agency Approvals – Experience with product compliance requirements to include at least FCC Part 15 Subpart B and IEC 60601.
  • Expertise out-sourcing for prototype, pre-fabrication/ low volume, high-volume/ production runs.
  • Experience with various cost reduction techniques.
  • Have the ability to understand and document a theory (sequence) of operations.
  • Familiar with automation systems using PLC and related software.
  • Rapid Prototyping – Have the ability to create quick prototypes when necessary utilizing Arduino, Raspberry pi, development modules, or best method given the situation.
  • EE CAD – Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout design methodologies.
  • EE Lab Equipment – Experience instrumenting, testing, debugging using Osciloscope, Multimeter, Logic Analyzer, Spectrum analyzer and Communication Protocol analyzers.

With regards to Computer & Software Use, you are expected to:

  • Create entire databases describing complete product development and design. These databases will be suitable for direct transfer to prototyping and/or manufacturing and will include all consideration for assembly, tooling and functional design requirements. This work will often be performed as part of a team, which includes electrical engineers, mechanical engineers and industrial designers.
  • Either create or oversee the creation of product documentation for the manufacturing and assembly process in accordance with Goddard Technologies practices.
  • Use appropriate software as the primary design platforms.
  • Advise, research, and recommend hardware & software applications that will benefit the company and its team members by way of efficiency.

Goddard is seeking an Associate Components Engineer with 1-2 years of experience to join our team in Beverly, MA.

  • Source, select and qualify components used in a wide variety of projects and designs.
  • Investigate alternate component technologies or supplies, reducing risk, costs and improving quality and reliability.
  • Analyze, review, and document existing designs from system- to-component level and be involved in technical discussions.

  • Managing requirements and troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Using Agile PLM or other similar product lifecycle management systems.

In addition, we’d prefer if you had:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or other technical discipline.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD software.
  • Knowledge of electrical active and passive components.
  • Technical literacy and attention to detail when reading datasheets, application notes, design requirements, and mechanical drawings.
